Haven’t you heard? We are RAs!!! - Ryo Sato, Senior
Do you have any concerns about living in a dormitory during your study abroad?
If so, you can count on Resident Assistants (RAs).
Students who have already experienced a dormitory life will live together as RA at AIU’s dormitories and student housing.
Working closely with the office (Student Affairs) and residence hall staff, the RAs support new students’ unfamiliarity with group living and help create a healthy and comfortable living environment.
Here is a message from one of the RAs, Ryo Sato.
Hello. We are Resident Assistants (RAs). Currently, the Resident Assistants for Fall 2020 consist of 7 members: 3 sophomores, 1 junior, and 3 senior students. Our mission is to support? AIU students to make the most of campus life. AIU offers residences on campus, so both exchange and degree-seeking students live on campus and spend their time together. By living with people who have different backgrounds, thoughts, and values, they may face some difficulty that they have never experienced before. RAs try to support the students in such time to overcome the challenge and learn from the experience. To complete our mission, we offer social events to encourage communication and cooperation among the residential community. RAs also play an essential role as Senpais (senior students), who can advise the residents as the AIU students living on campus.
At the time of COVID-19, we are away from campus. However, such a situation never stops the AIU students from communicating with others and learning from each other!! We try our best to give you opportunities to experience things you should have experienced on campus. As examples of our activities during Fall 2020, we held some online events to allow students to meet other students. Some of the other events were held to enable new students to meet Senpais since it is difficult for new students to interact with Senpais, given the current situation.
We hope you can still learn many things from the AIU community online. We are going to continue our activities to make sure all students can interact with other students!! Please regularly check RAs activities through e-mail, Facebook, and RA’s website not to miss our events!!!
