Travel Arrangements to Akita

Participants are required to arrive on campus during the designated times on Check-in Day and attend all program events, including the opening and closing ceremony and the mandatory check-out inspection. Therefore, participants must confirm the final program schedule and arrange travel schedule accordingly.

Free Pick-up and Drop-off Bus Information

AIU will provide pick-up service and drop-off service free of charge, between Akita Airport and JR Akita Station and the AIU campus, but only at the scheduled times on the check-in and check-out days. Public transportation is limited in Akita, and there is no direct public transportation between AIU and Akita Airport or Akita Station. Therefore it is highly recommended to use the service.

Those who wish to use the free pick-up and drop-off bus need to make a reservation. Pick-up and Drop-off Bus schedule details will be provided to students when they receive their application screening results.

  • ? Meeting points:
  • Akita Airport: Domestic Arrival Lobby (on the ground (1st) floor)
  • Akita Station: Bus Stop No.5 at East Exit

If students arrive in Akita after the pick-up bus because of a flight delay or other matters beyond their control, they have to travel to the campus on their own, using taxis, trains, and/or local buses. The link in the first paragraph includes information about traveling to AIU’s campus.
