Ethics and the Contradictory Nature of Humanity in an AI-Driven Future Society” by Dr. Shigeru Taguchi , professor, faculty of Humanities and Human Sciences, Hokkaido University, director of Center for Human Nature, Artificial Intelligence, and Neuroscience (CHAIN), Hokkaido University of Japan. 講義の概要：	急速に発展するAI技術が、人間の制御しうる範囲を超え、巨大な問題を引き起こす可能性があるということが盛んに論じられている。そこで、「AIを倫理的にする」方法を探る試みが盛んに行われている。しかし、AIを倫理的にするには、それを試みる人間自身が、まず「倫理とは何か」がわかっていなければならない。われわれは本当に、「倫理とは何か」が十分にわかっていると言えるのだろうか。そこで、本発表では、「倫理とは何か」について改めて反省することを試みる。そして、カントを援用しながら、倫理とは単に「ルールを守る」ということを意味するのではなく、困難な状況に直面しながら、主体が自由に決断するところ、しかも「いまここ」の一回きりの状況のなかで、「普遍的」でありうる答えは何かを考えつつ決断するところに成立するということを論じる。その背後には、本質的に矛盾を孕んだ人間の本性がある。AIによって運用される社会の仕組みを、単純なルールや合理性にしたがって設計するならば、それは（いかに合理的であっても）人間にとってディストピアになりうる。人間の本質を押し潰さない仕方で、AIと共に倫理的な社会を創るためのヒントを探ってみたい。
Content:	The rapid development of AI technologies is increasingly discussed as potentially exceeding the limits of human control and causing profound problems. In response, many efforts have been made to explore how to “make AI ethical.” Yet in order to make AI ethical, the humans who attempt this must themselves first understand what it means to be ethical. Can we truly say that we already understand this sufficiently? This presentation seeks to reflect fundamentally on the very question: What does it mean to be ethical? Drawing on Kant, I will argue that ethics does not simply mean “following rules,” but rather arises when a subject, faced with difficult situations, makes free decisions while considering what answer could be “universal” in the once-and-for-all situation of the “here and now.” Underlying this is the very nature of the human being, which is inherently marked by contradiction. If the social systems operated by AI are designed merely to follow simple rules or rationality, then—no matter how rational they may be—they could become dystopian for human beings. I would like to consider hints for creating an ethical society together with AI in a way that does not crush the essence of our humanity.
